What Is Your Carbon Foot Print? A Carbon Footprint is a measurement of the impact that human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced. It is measured in units of carbon dioxide (CO2) and can be summed up by dividing it up into two parts; Direct/primary footprint – a measure of our direct emissions of CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels including domestic energy consumption and transportation (e.g. cars, buses, planes, etc.) Indirect/secondary footprint – a measure of the indirect CO2 emissions from the whole lifecycle of products we use, such as those associated with their manufacture and eventual breakdown (e.g. food, water, clothes, package products, etc.)
