Green LA: An Action Plan to Lead the Nation in Fighting Global Warming

Mayor Villaraigosa’s  plan to combat climate change outlines how Los Angeles will reach its goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 35% below 1990 levels by 2030. Click on the left column for the report.

Green Building Industry Scan

Over $15 billion in local construction is expected to integrate sustainable principles over the next few years.  A recent survey of construction companies reported that approximately 25% have worked on a green project; this number is expected to increase to 50% within the next several years.  

Solar Industry Scan: Los Angeles County
Based on a 2008 survey of solar businesses and businesses tied to the solar
Industry in the Los Angeles region and California, solar occupations in greatest
Demand will grow by an average of 77% in the six-county Southern California
Region over the next 12 months. This growth is projected to create almost 750
New jobs in the Los Angeles solar industry.

Clean Tech Jobs: Workforce Challenges and Opportunities

This report assesses current and emerging clean technology workforce needs within the Los Angeles and Orange County region.  The report was produced by The Los Angeles / Orange County Regional Consortium in collaboration with the Regional Economic Development Institute at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.

Jobs in LA's Green Technology Sector, 2006 

One of the first Los Angeles based reports to look at the "Green Technology Sector".  This report, published by the Los Angeles Economic Roundtable, emphasizes “Renewable” sources of energy and also looks at related environmental industries, such as Environmental Consulting, Alternative Fuel Vehicles, and Waste Reduction/Remediation.

The California Economic Strategy Panel held a forum on Clean Technology & the Green Economy: Growing Products, Services, Businesses & Jobs in California’s Value NetworkThe Panel, along with leaders from industry, venture capital firms, state and local government, and consumers looked at what industry sectors define our green economy and who is driving market demand.
